Campus MovieFest (CMF) is the world’s largest student film festival and aims to be an outlet for the next generation of filmmakers.
Students who participated were able to borrow an HD camera and Apple laptop with relevant software to help create their own five minute film. Aspiring filmmakers from UCL and across London took up the challenge and in a single week at the start of November brought their visions to life.
CMF was set up in 2001 and have been able to help more than 800 000 students create short films. Previous winners have received over $2 million in prizes and have had their films played at many festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival.
The CMF London Grand Final Awards Ceremony will take place on the 30th November. The red carpet will be out to receive the top 15 films from London students. All finalists will receive a 12-month subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud. The Best Picture winner will receive a round-trip and accommodation to see their film at CMF Hollywood in Los Angeles in June 2015. It will also be shown at the Cannes Film Festival in May next year. The best comedy and drama films will also be shown at CMF Hollywood.
If you want to see the top 50 films from this year’s event join The Festival Screenings on 29th November. Both the Awards Ceremony and Screening will take place in the Cineworld Haymarket cinema.
Tickets for these events can be found here.
CMF participants who created films that tackle issue of poverty and inequality within their community will be eligible for a £2000 prize in the Elfenworks Social Justice Category. The winner will be chosen by the Elfenworks Foundation.
